The CamperDive modular Pigtail system allows you to adjust your speargun’s power with the same precision and speed as a professional kitesurfer adjusting their flying lines. Utilizing high-strength Dyneema cordage and the Lark’s Head Knot, this system ensures a secure connection capable of handling

maximum tension while remaining easy to detach.

Power Adjustment Logic

The system works by altering the pre-tension and effective stretch length of the power bands:

Maximum Power Setting:
- Action: Connect the black Dyneema loop of the power band to the innermost knot (the one closest to the speargun butt).
- Result: This shortens the overall band length. When loaded, the band reaches a higher stretch ratio, delivering maximum kinetic energy and penetration.
- Best For: Short speargun configurations or when hunting large, thick-scaled fish.

Lower Power Setting:
- Action: Secure the Lark's Head loop to the outermost knot (farther from the speargun).
- Result: This increases the initial length of the band system, reducing the tension. It makes loading easier and provides a smoother shot.
- Best For: Long speargun setups or close-range hunting in rocky areas where excessive power might damage the spear tip.
Advanced Customization:
- As you gain experience, you can customize your "power gears" by adjusting the total length of the red Pigtail or changing the distance between knots (standard gap is 8-10 cm) to achieve the perfect balance for your specific hunting style.

How to Quickly Adjust Pole Spear Power

Choosing the right power is more important than using the maximum power.

Too little power reduces range and penetration.

Too much power increases the risk of striking rocks and damaging the spear tip, especially when hunting around reefs.

The ideal setup depends on the target species, hunting environment, and pole spear length.

What Is a Pig Tail?

A Pig Tail is one of the fastest ways to adjust pole spear power.

It uses multiple stopper knots tied into a Dyneema cord, allowing the rubber to be connected at different positions.

By simply moving the Lark's Head Knot to another knot, you can adjust the power in seconds without changing or retying the rubber.

How Does It Work?

A Pig Tail changes the effective working length of the rubber.

Connecting the rubber closer to the rear of the pole spear allows it to stretch farther before the shot.

More stretch stores more energy and produces greater power.

Moving the connection point forward shortens the working length, reducing the amount of stretch and lowering the output power.

The rubber itself does not change. Only the connection point changes.

When Should You Adjust the Power?

Reef Hunting

Reduce power to lower the chance of striking rocks and damaging the spear tip.

Open Water Hunting

Increase power when a longer effective range is needed.

Different Pole Spear Lengths

A single rubber can be used on different length pole spears simply by selecting a different Pig Tail position.

Fine Tuning

Power can also be fine-tuned by changing your grip position, allowing both methods to work together.

More Than a Power Adjustment

A Pig Tail is more than a rubber connector.

It also serves as the attachment point for the Shooting Line.

The Shooting Line is connected between the pole spear and the Float Line. Its primary purpose is to minimize drag during the shot and maintain maximum spear speed.

The Float Line is then connected to the Shooting Line, providing positive buoyancy and allowing the use of a float system for larger fish and safer recovery.
